Mayday? May Day!

Celebrating May Day can bring happiness!

My Experience Growing Up……

It was a tradition in our community to celebrate May Day by creating little paper cones with handles, filling them with flowers and hanging them on the doorknobs of siblings, neighbors and friends. Sharing the beauty of spring brought JOY and created lasting memories and warmer relationships.

Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!

A viewing of any nautical drama film reminds us of the hurried, panicked tones of a radio signal “Mayday, Mayday” when troubled brews on ocean waters.  When things are bad, this shows in the adrenaline surging voice of the captain and his crew.

Physical Response

For the body, this Mayday signal may look like a feeling of panic or fear. Lately, you may have experienced this more than ever! Perhaps your stress hormones are fired up and causing knots in your stomach, irritable, overwhelm and have more muscle tightness?

Today as we remember May Day, let’s take a little moment to make sure we are avoiding having a stressed Mayday experience.

The Biological Truth

There is a simple biological truth: the body works more effectively when it is relaxed and peaceful. Calm engenders immune strength, creative solution-finding, effective metabolism and increased cortical or brain function!  The body also works more effectively when we feel connected to each other.
